Loobalee.com Review & #Giveaway {Mommy Head Says}

loobalee

These days, with two children and a third on the way, I feel like I am constantly searching for good deals on clothes.  Kids grow so quickly, and one time of not paying attention to care instructions can ruin an outfit.  That and the fact that my two refuse to wear bibs, you can only imagine the amount to clothing we go through.

I have tried shopping at thrift stores and consignment shops but never seem to score the deals that people tell me about.  I have even went on ebay a few times, only to be left lacking and frustrated.

Imagine my surprise when I found out about a great company ran by a woman who made it her goal to give moms the shopping experience they are looking for when it comes to buying quality clothing at a decent price.

Suzanne Rielle started Loobalee with a mission to do more than just swap, trade and sell clothes.  She wanted to impact our economy and our environment as well.  And she has made it so easy, that just about any mom can do it!

Loobalee is completely free and listing your items is so easy.  The ease of shopping is fantastic as well.  You can place items in your cart and they stay there for 3 hours if you are a signed in user.  Guests can keep them in their cart for 30 minutes.  No need to feel like you have to buy now or you will lose your precious, searched for item.  It really is almost too good to be true.

But I can tell you it works.  I search through the Loobalee website for some items for Bear and Lion, but was unable to find something I could use at the moment.  But I wanted to try the process out and found that it really was as easy as they say.  And now I have a new place to spend all my time besides Pinterest.  What can I say?  I am a mommy with the Internet at my finger tips :)

The sign up process is free and simple.  It only takes a few minutes and you are done.  You are required to have a PayPal address to sell items, but this is something that most people have anyway.  And they have great customer care services for those of you who need assistance.

To get started, simply head on over to Loobalee and click on the sign up tab.  This is the screen you will see right afterward:

In that Referred By box, you simply put Mommy Head Adventures and you are set (not to mention, if I receive the most referrals, I could win and extra prize!  Help a mommy out?)

After you fill out the form, they send you an confirmation email, you click the link and you are on your way to shopping.  It really is that simple.

And, just in case you needed a little extra push to try it out, Loobalee has agreed to giveaway a $15 Visa GC and a $15 Loobalee reimbursement!  Thanks Loobalee.

Simply use the Rafflecopter form below.  The giveaway is open to US residents only and will run until 3/23 at 12:01 AM EST.  The winner will be contacted by email with 48 hours to respond before a new winner is chosen.

Mommy Head Says: Johnson’s Natural Baby Products

Johnson's Natural

When it comes to being a “green” family, I am not always on the ball.  It isn’t that I don’t want to be.  I just don’t always feel like I have the time.

But when we found out that Baby #3 was on the way, I figured it was time to make some serious changes.  And then when I was doing my January Monthly Reading, I learned about a lot of the chemicals that are in a lot of the products I was using.  I learned that it wasn’t as difficult to be more natural, and honestly, it could save me money in the long run.

It was time to make some serious changes.

Then I learned about an awesome product that came from a baby brand I could trust: Johnson and Johnson!  They just released a natural baby product line, and I knew I had to try it!

Johnson’s Natural Baby Products are made from a combo of fruit and plant derived ingredients that are gentle on baby’s skin.  And since we have been struggling with some serious dry skin on Lion, I really hoped this might help him out.

I love that they are tear free and they do not have an powerful smell.  They are free from added chemicals that I don’t want to put on my baby!  This is always an added bonus, not only for my two now, but the new one due to arrive in April!

As soon as I received the Johnson’s Natural products, I immediately went for the baby lotion.  A little went a long way, and within a day, Lion’s dry skin was almost completely gone.  It didn’t bother him like some of the other brands did.  I was able to just rub it in and we were good.  He even smiled!

Bear enjoyed the no tear shampoo and baby wash, and I believe these products helped Lion’s skin as well.  And with the amazing ALLERFREE™ allergen-free fragrance, I wasn’t afraid it would send me into a sneezing attack.  I just love to smell my fresh, clean babies :)

Johnson’s Natural Baby products are available at mass retailers and are very affordable.  You can also check out their product page and get some free coupons and learn more for yourself!  Who doesn’t want coupons?  And since Johnson’s Natural Baby products just won the Better Homes and Gardens Best New Product Award for 2012, you know it is worth checking out!

I believe I have found a product to add to my family’s daily cleansing regimen that I can trust.  The results that I have seen on Lion’s skin has me completely sold that this is the natural product for us and I totally recommend it to all of my readers.

So now, I have to ask, how are you striving to live more natural?  What steps are you taking to ensure that your family is getting the most natural products that are good for them and our environment, too?

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Johnson’s Natural and received a product sample to facilitate my review, and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

Mommy Head Says: Gerber Life College Plan {$25 Snapfish Giveaway}

Gerber Life Insurance

Back when Bear was born, one of the first things that Daddy Head and I decided to do was to start saving for her college.  One of the greatest gifts that Daddy Head received growing up was a college fund that kept him from going into great debt from college loans later in life.  I thankfully received scholarships to pay for my tuition, which kept us from having huge debt as we entered marriage.

And we wanted the same for our children!

Gerber Life Insurance Company has created a great service for all parents out there who are wanting to start saving for their children’s college education.  It is called the Gerber Life College Plan.  There is a variety of benefit amounts ranging from $10,000 to $150,000, all of which have a premium that you pay monthly based on the term you choose.  One of the things that causes this program to stand out above the rest is that it is not a 529 plan, meaning that the parent knows exactly how much money there is in the end, and the economy does not affect it!  It also allows for the money in the Gerber Life College Plan to be used as life insurance if the need would arise.

Gerber Life College Plan has teamed up with Reading is Fundamental, a program that makes reading fun and beneficial in the everyday life of children and parents.  Reading is Fundamental has made it their goal to provide age appropriate reading material to children from birth to age 8 by getting books into their homes.

Gerber Life College Plan is planning to donate $10,000 to Reading is Fundamental through a project called Project Open Book by Feb 13th, and you can be a part.  Simply visit the Gerber Life Facebook Page and upload a picture to be added to their mosaic.  By uploading a picture, you will automatically be entered into a drawing for a $1,000 VISA card, with two other winners receiving a $500 VISA card.  You can see all the rules and details on the Facebook Page.

Here’s the best part!  Gerber Life is going to giveaway a $25 Snapfish GC to one MHA reader!

How to Enter:

Simply use the Rafflecopter form below.  The giveaway will be open until 2/16 at 12:01 am EST.  The winner will be contacted by email and will have 48 hours to respond before a new winner is chosen.  Must be a resident of the US to win.

Mommy Head Says: The Harvest of Grace {Review}

harvest of grace

When it comes to books, I am a stickler for Amish Fiction.  So, when I had the chance to review the final book in the Ada House Series, Harvest of Grace, by Cindy Woodsmall, I jumped at it!  She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors, and this book is the reason why!

This book takes place in Pennsylvania Amish Country and tells the love story of Sylvia Fisher and Aaron Blank.  Sylvia isn’t your normal Amish woman.  Instead of pining away to get married and start a family, she would rather work on a dairy farm.  Aaron is out of rehab and returns home to convince his family to sell their dairy farm to move to town with him.  Little does he know that they have hired Sylvia to take him place and his parents have no interest in leaving.

Intertwined is the ending stories of Cara Moore with her beau Ephraim Mast as well as Lean Kauffman and Grey Graber, both from the first two books in the series.  It is beautiful to see how each story concludes in this final book of the series.

I can assure you, you will not be lost at all in this book!  I have not read the first two books in the series and I loved this story.  I like how Woodsmall always includes background info on the characters at the beginning of her books. That way you can catch up very quickly.

After finishing this book, I have been on the lookout for the first two in the series.  I found the first one for very inexpensive, but I am still on search for the second.  Like I said, I love Cindy Woodsmall’s writing.

So, if you are on the lookout for a great read this year, I definitely recommend this book.  It will cause you to leave wishing you could take a step back from normal life and live just a little more plain.  They always have the greatest love stories anyway ;)

Disclosure: I was provided with an advanced reading copy of this book in order to facilitate this review by the Blogging for Books program from Waterbrook Press.  No other compensation was given.  All thoughts and opinions are my own :)
