Yay for August.  I can hardly believe how fast this year is passing.  This month is going to bring a lot of changes around our home.  I am excited for this new season, and plan to share more about it later.

But for now, here is my list of reading for the month.

For Spiritual Growth: B90Days.  I am planning to finish this month and I am super excited to say I accomplished this feat!

For Individual Growth: How to Potty Train a Toddler the Loving Way by Jenny Stapleton.  Here is your sneak peek of one of the changes for the month.  Potty Training Bear!  Hope this book will give me the help I need.  My mother in law gave me a book to help me, which I can’t find.  I also plan on getting another book for my Kindle as well.  This should be fun Winking smile

For Fun: Coming Home by Karen Kingsbury.  Back before I married Daddy Head, I was really into the 3 Baxter Series by Kingsbury.  She just released this book as a check in on the family, so I am looking forward to catching up with them.  Seriously!  I felt like I lived with them the whole time I read those books.  Now, if only my mom and I could remember to get the book to me…

There’s my list.  What are you reading this month?

This is the first month that I can say I didn’t get the job done.  I will explain more below, but I don’t feel bad about it.  I grew, and that is the whole point of doing this.

B90Days: I am still chugging along.  My goal is to finish up in August, but I have missed a bunch of days lately.  I have to say, I love the little catch me up feature on the YouVersion app.

Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World by Michael Hyatt.  This is the book I didn’t finish.  It was a great read, but the print was really small and it was very deep!  I plan to keep reading it and finish it eventually.  This means you may continue to see more changes around here.

Summer of Promise by Amanda Cabot.  This book was fantastic.  Taking place in Wyoming, it took me back to the memories I have from living there when I was 5.  The budding romance between Ethan and Abigail, plus the journey of figuring out the mystery was so fun.  I loved the whole feel of the book, even though I did figure out what was going to happen before it told me.  But I love books that way.  Looking forward to Book 2 coming out soon.

There is my recap of this month’s books.  Be tuned tomorrow for next months list.

What are you reading lately?

The year is half way done, and I have actually stayed on top of the goal to read 3 books every month.  I have grown in new ways and I am so happy that I have done this challenge.

Enough of that.  Here is my list for this month.

Spiritual Growth: Still reading the Bible.  I should finish this sometime in August, so be ready to see this next month as well.

Individual Growth: Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World by Michael Hyatt.  I am so excited about this book.  My mother in law actually shared it with me, and I am looking forward to being pushed to get my voice out there more on my blog.  Here’s to learning and growth.

Fun: Summer of Promise by Amanda Cabot.  This book takes place in Wyoming during 1885.  I love historical romance so I am hoping this book will not disappoint.

There you have my list for July.  I have a series I really want to read, but I am saving it for next month when I know Banana will let me read an actual book, not on my Kindle.

What are you reading for July?

2012 Monthly Reading–June Check In

Yay for the month of June.  I celebrated turning another year old and celebrated the birth of Lion.  I can hardly believe he is 2.

We also went on vacation.  I love going to the Smoky Mountains, and I love that I was able to get some reading in.

I am making good progress in my #B90Days reading.  It has been a little slow going at times, but I am still on schedule.  I haven’t posted many updates, but that is because I don’t know how to put into words the things I am reading.  Maybe I need to work on that…

Becoming Fearless: My Ongoing Journey of Learning to Trust God by Michelle Aguilar was an awesome read.  I thought it was going to be mostly about her experience on Biggest Loser, but it wasn’t.  I mean, she did talk about that, but this book so inspired me as I continue on my weight loss journey.  Have you seen my latest post on my progress at losing weight?

Lady in the Mist by Laurie Alice Eakes was incredible.  Eakes is quickly becoming my new favorite author.  This book had suspense, and was so realistic, I felt like I was at sea.  It made me want to go and research whether or not the British really were stealing American’s to fight in their war.  You really should check it out.

Come back tomorrow when I post my list for July.  Look at me getting a head start Winking smile

Oh, and how did your reading for the month go?

10 Favorites from #B90Days #TopTenTues

Bible

When I made my decision to read through the entire Bible in 90 days, I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into.  I knew I had a stirring in my heart to read and go deeper, but I didn’t realize exactly how much reading I would be doing.

Don’t get me wrong!  I am so grateful that I am using my summer to grow and go deeper, it just seems that it almost bogs me down.  But then, when I come across certain scriptures that speak to the deepest parts of my spirit and soul, I am reminded about how worth it this really is.

Today, I want to share with you 10 of my favorites that I have came across so far as I have read up through part of 1 Samuel.  And, hopefully, I will get completely caught up today, if housework and my boys will let me ;)

1.  Genesis 21:22

“Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there called on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.”

2.  Exodus 14:13

“And Moses said to the people, Do not be afraid.  Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today.  For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.”

3.  Exodus 15:26

“and said, If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statues, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”

4.  Exodus 23:25, 26

“So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless you bread and your water.  And I will take sickenss away from the midst of you.  No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.”

5.  Exodus 33:11

“So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.  And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.”

6.  Exodus 36:5-7

“and they spoke to Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work which the Lord commanded us to do.  So Moses gave a commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman do any more work for the offering of the sanctuary.  And the people were restrained from bringing, for the material they had was sufficient for all the work to be done indeed too much.”

7.  Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countance upon you, and give you peace.”

8.  Numbers 23:19

“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent.  Has He said, and will He not do?  Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

9.  Deuteronomy 6:4-6

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.  And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.”

10.  Ruth 1:16, 17

“But Ruth said: Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following after you; for wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge, your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.  Where you die, I will die, and there will I be buried.  The Lord do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me.”

There you have it!  A small sampling of my favorite so far.  There were so many, I had to pick and choose.

What is encouraging you this summer?
