How eMeals is Helping me Save #Getorganized #getthrifty

My word for the year is RETURN.  I told you about it earlier this month, but I want to take it to another level.

Last year, I had decided that I was really going to try to save our family money by making a meal plan and sticking to it.  It worked for a little while, but I gave up once Banana came along.

But this year, Daddy Head and I have decided we are done with credit cards and that we are getting out of debt.  In order to do this, I am going to have to be more strategic on our spending and that means making a meal plan to be organized..  We are going to make a budget, and stick to it as well.

And I plan to do this with the help of eMeals.

eMeals is the online simple dinner solution for busy people who want to spend their money wisely and their time with people they love. eMeals is the easy way to be organized, have a well-managed grocery budget and enjoy healthy dinners at home.

I will be trying eMeals out this year as a part of their blogger network.  I am already excited about the first week’s set of meals for my family to fall in love with.  Hopefully I will find some new favorites that we can put in a rotation along side other meals we like.

I plan to look over the weekly meal schedule and tweak it based on our schedule, but all in all, I know that eMeals will save us money by helping me make a plan and making it easier for me to make my list.

eMeals also has a simple budget form to help you get the process started for yourself.

I’m not familiar with emeals Tara…but I can testify that meal plans and food budgeting will save you HUGE amounts of time and money. A few things I do to help save on groceries is : shop my pantry and freezer first. I make a list of all the meals I can make with what I already have. Then I make a list of meals that only require one or two additional ingredients. The rest of my menu is based on what meats are on sale that week. If hamburger is on sale we are going to be having meatloaf, burgers, spaghetti and meatballs etc. Then when I go shopping, I have a set amount to spend. I take that money out in cash and leave my debit card and checkbook at home…this stops any impulse buys, and sometimes I even have to take some things off of my list if the money runs to low. I also try to make meals from scratch and avoid convenience foods, but this is one area where I need to be more diligent. Praying God’s wisdom as you seek to become debt free!!
