Gods Promises for Girls and Boys Review and #Giveaway

praying gods word over kids

Daddy Head and I decided way back when we found out we were pregnant with Bear that we would make it a point to pray God’s Word over our children.  We also knew that we wanted to make family devotional times a priority.  It was important to us that our children had a strong biblical worldview and a solid foundation under them.  And we wanted to start it all from the beginning.

This year, we really stepped it up a notch.  We bought both Bear and Lion their own children’s Bibles and I even got a new Bible.  And then when I settled on my word of the year being Return, I knew that I wanted to go back to some of the basics of what we had started with.

This included speaking the Word over them.

Tommy Nelson has two incredible resources for parents to use with their children.  God’s Promises for Girls and God’s Promises for Boys are aimed at 6-10 year olds.  They can be used as a devotional or topical, and they are full of fun, bright illustrations.

I felt it was perfect for us to use with Bear and Lion during our family devotions.

I loved how the book was broken down.  We have been battling some pretty intense fear with Bear and the section on God’s Promises When You Are Worried was awesome for her:

And Lion has been dealing with some sickness so we loved the God’s Promises of Help When You Are Sick:

I am looking forward to using these books more as the kids get older.

How would you like to win a copy of each for your family or loved one?  Simply leave me a comment below telling me which promise of God you pray over your children?  A second entry could be a comment telling me what your children say a promise is.  Additional comments for Facebook shares and tweets will be accepted.  Just leave a comment for each.

The giveaway will run until January 29th at 5 pm CST.  Must be 18 years old or older and a resident of the US to enter.  The winner will be contacted by email and will have 48 hours to respond before a new winner is chosen.

Disclosure: As a Tommy Mommy, I was provided with the above product in order to facilitate my review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

  17. My biggest prayer is that my boys will grow up to be faithful teenagers and adults. There are so many evil influences in the world. I pray that my boys will have the faith to follow the Spirit in the choices they make.

  18. God’s promises or blessings is actually a topic we haven’t really covered in it’s own context. We talk about blessings those in the scriptures receive as they follow God’s commandments. We often relate it to the things our children experience, but we have yet to have a lesson purely on blessings God has promised us.

  20. Suzie Williams says:

I always pray God’s promise of forgiveness for my children. I want them to know that no matter what they do, God will always forgive them and that they can come to him with anything.

  21. Suzie Williams says:

My daughter says a promise is something that you say you will do and you have to do it no matter what or you will get into big trouble. She’s 7 and learned this after promising her brother her allowance forever if he would let her play on the computer. I only made her give it up for that week, but I think she will think twice before making another false promise to do something “forever.”

I know it’s too late to enter, but I wanted to encourage you to continue to share Go(o)d news like this with others. It is such an inspiration to read and see what others like yourself and those that commented have done and do. I am honored and so blessed to be able to share God’s word and His promises with my eldest grandchild Heidi who is now 6 years old and in her second year at a Christian school where she has grown so much in such a short time. I look forward to each and everyday I have with Heidi, my second granddaughter Emily who is 18 months and a third grandchild on the way.
