Family Friday: A Day of Fishing

Now, for my story!

This past Sunday, our family decided to have a fishing tournament at Daddy Head’s Grandad’s pond. Every Sunday, we spend the afternoon at Grandad’s house and there is always fun to be had.

The fishing tournament began promptly after lunch. The prize at stake would go to the person who caught the most inches worth of fish and then runner’s up would win for the biggest fish caught!

At first, I was not going to participate. My plan was to sit on the blanket with Lion and watch everyone have a good time. But then my competitive nature set in and Daddy Head gave me a pole.

I set out to make a catch. I spent all afternoon standing out there, casting and reeling in. Casting and reeling in. Bear had a good time running up and down the hill, sticking her feet in the water and getting herself in all kinds of trouble. Lion sat on his blanket and occasionally would lay down and try to eat some grass. No, he isnt a cow

The afternoon went on and I still didn’t catch anything. Lion began to get fussy and Bear had fallen asleep in the backpack carrier that Daddy Head had on. I told myself 3 more casts and then we were done.

I cast to no avail the first time. The second time, I felt a little tug! I had one! My day of fishing was now complete.
