Yesterday was a day full of memories. When your family is a pastor’s family, big church holiday’s usual are full of them.
Our Easter’s are just like the usual American family’s. We eat lunch and do a big Easter egg hunt. We understand that the eggs represent the tomb. We know the significance of the day and that it is more than just food and candy.
But, today I had a new revelation. It seems kind of superficial, but there is significance in buying a new outfit to wear on Easter Sunday.
As I was watching Bear walk around church in her adorable dress, which was given to us by a family friend with the tags still attached, it struck me. When we wear a new outfit on that special Sunday morning, it is so important to remember that it is because of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus that we can be made new!
And that, my friends and followers, was a huge new revelation for me. I love to shop and I always want to look nice for church. But now, I want to go way out for Easter Sunday, if only to show the world that in Jesus I am made new!
You don’t need to break the bank to do this. I do a lot of my shopping on the sales racks. It was just an important new understanding for me. I am truly made new!
Hallelujah! He is risen!
What did you enjoy during your Easter Sunday? Any new memories built?
