We Lost a Good One the Other Day

My son, Lion, is a good boy.  I have told you in the past that he hardly ever cries, is always smiling and, all around, is such a joy to have in my life.

So, imagine my surprise when yesterday, he just didnt seem happy at all.  All day long, he sounded hoarse and seemed to have a nasty cold coming on.  My heart just broke for my little boy, having to watch him suffer.  I just wanted to take it all away from him, make it all better.  I just felt so helpless.

It all started yesterday morning, in an interesting turn of events.  Lion was in his swing, finishing out his nighttime sleep.  We are a co-sleeping family, and sister Bear is in her own crib beside our bed.  Most of the time, she is waking up the rest of the family with her strange middle of the night waking (and screaming).  Occasionally, though, brother Lion will wake up sister with his nighttime talking.  So, when Lion wakes up talking, we get him out of the room quick!

Daddy Head and spent a few hours on the couch with Lion this time.  When it came time to be up and moving, though, I could tell something was bothering the boy.  I thought for sure it was just the cold that seemed to be coming his way.  That was until I picked him up.

I started to change Lion’s outfit and diaper, when I was hit by a very interesting smell.  Whoever says that and EBF baby’s poop doesnt smell has never met my children.  Lion stunk!  And when I looked at his poor outfit, the cute one that said, “Mommy Loves Me,” on the front, I almost shed a good tear.  That outfit was a good one, but it unfortunately wouldnt be saved this time.  It went to where all destroyed beyond repair outfits go: The Trash.

I chuckled to myself when I remembered all the good times we had with that outfit.  Out of the 3 wears, there had been one too big for me stage, a minor blowout on the after Thanksgiving shopping and then this.  We were sad to see it go, but it had served its purpose.

For now, I must go.  I just heard Lion fill his pants again.  I dont want to lose another one today.

What blow out stories have you experience?
